Understanding God's Message: Speaking to Us in Our Language

Published on 1 May 2024 at 13:36

Have you ever tried to talk to someone who speaks a different language? It can be challenging to understand each other! But imagine if someone could speak to you in a way you could understand perfectly. That's what God does for us.

In the Doctrine and Covenants verse 1:24, God says, "Behold, I am God and have spoken it; these commandments are of me, and were given unto my servants in their weakness, after the manner of their language, that they might come to understanding." This means that God speaks to us in a way we can understand in our language.

Think about it this way: if you were trying to explain something important to a friend, you would use words and examples they know and understand, right? That's exactly what God does. He knows us so well that He speaks to us in a way that makes sense. He wants us to understand His message clearly.

Good communication is all about understanding each other. God knows that, and that's why He talks to us in a way we can grasp. He cares about us so much that He wants to ensure we get His message.

So, the next time you read verses from your scriptures or hear a message from God, remember that He speaks to you in your own language. He is reaching out to you because He loves you and wants you to understand Him. Just like we try to communicate clearly with our friends, God communicates with us in a way we can truly comprehend.
